Mission
Enriching the lives of young people through creative
program opportunities.
About Our
Camp
At
The Youth Center Summer Day Camp, safety is our first and
foremost concern. We want all of our campers to have a
fun, challenging and enriching experience at camp - one that
is memorable and fulfilling. All campers are grouped
by age/grade and activities are geared accordingly. We
are an ACA accredited camp. We are small and able to
provide personal attention. Our camp employs
year-round staff, including carefully screened, selected and
trained summer staff members. Counselors meet campers
daily with energy and enthusiasm. All are formally
trained, prior to the start of the season in general camp
procedures and certifications in CPR, First Aid,
lifeguarding and WSI (Water Safety Instructor) are possessed
by appropriately selected staff members.

CAMP
FACILITIES
Outdoors
On our grounds, we have
a large play area and wooded picnic grove. Attached to
our facility is a 20 X 40 pavilion, built in 2004; this
provides a great additional sheltered space for a variety of
activities. We have access to a huge borough park with a
basketball court, soccer field, baseball field and outdoor
playground equipment. The Spruce Run Creek runs next
to the borough park; exploring this wonderful natural
environment is one of the highlights of our camp activities
that is enjoyed by all campers.
All
3 phases of our Playground project have been completed!
The 3 section playground includes:
Phase
I A playground area specifically designed for children
ages 2 ½ to 5.
Phase II A water area with rubber surface and a frog which
shoots water; great for
all ages!
Phase III
A playground area specifically designed for children
ages 5 to 12. This
is a climbing element which lends itself to trust and challenge
activities must for this age group.
THANK
YOU EXXONMOBIL!!!
Indoors
We have a large partially air
conditioned indoor facility with 7,000 square feet of space
including a full size gym with parquet floors and a
basketball court. We also have a new, completely refurbished
gym-thanks again to volunteers from ExxonMobil.
We
have a stage for skits and talent shows, a full size kitchen
and a large activity room.
We have a wide inventory of indoor and outdoor
recreational equipment that enables us to provide a variety
of activities in all weather conditions.

Some
Additional Information
•
Lead counselors are adults and group counselors are
young adults. We employ minimal Junior Counselors ages 16
and 17 to assist adult counselors with menial tasks.
•
Our ratios vary from 1:4 to
1:10
depending on the age of the campers and the specific
activity, ensuring the best supervision and keeping the
emphasis on safety.
•
Professional camp video or DVD may be borrowed to
view the camp in action.
Personal tours are given year round upon request.
Swimming
Our camp has an arrangement with a local condo
association that provides us with exclusive use of their
pool and facilities prior to them opening to their members.
Campers are bussed to the pool (1/2 mile each way)
for instructional and recreational swim time.
Great strides are made with our Red Cross WSI (water
safety instructors) staff with all swim abilities.
Field
trips
Field trips are planned regularly throughout the
summer. A summer
calendar will be distributed with specific details of
special events, field trips and other activities.
